The book contains a piece called Ode to Ruth Asawa. Shortly after landing near the ocean I started making spiritual relics that were inspired by her hanging tied wire sculptures. I have long admired her work and her way of living and seeing the world. I thought about her a lot as I walked the shore picking up broken shell fragments for many of the “sculptures” photographed in this collection, so thought it fitting that my “ode” to her become the poster that represents the book.
